Tell-a-friend

That's right, folks. Just in time for the holidays, here's a perfect stocking stuffer for all your loud-mouthed good-for-nothing friends and relatives: The Team Fitzy T-Shirt!

- Each T-Shirt is a 100% Cotton Hanes Beefy-T
- Colors available are Red and Navy Blue
- Sizes available are Medium, Large, & Extra Large

ORDERING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Please make all payments through PayPal.com
(like throwing to Wes Welker on 3rd Down, it's very secure)
2. Send $13 ($10 plus $3 shipping and handling for each shirt) to STORE[at]TOWNIENEWS.COM
3. In the "Message To Recipient" box, please be sure to include your Shipping Address, Shirt Color, and Shirt Size.

Regardless of your favorite team, we can all agree that sporting the colors of TEAM FITZY means you stand for excessive sports talk, foul language, inapppropriate metaphors, hangovers and the commonplace use of the phrase GFY. And isn't that what America and the internet are all about? Damn right!

So order one today - and tomorrow. That'll mean you bought two; one for you, and one for your mom (she's been playing for Team Fitzy for years now.)

Cheers and Blatantly Commercial Beers,

Fitzy

There it is. I said it. Bills lost today, so before we even take the field tonight we're AFC East Champs. We got the obvious out of the way. We all saw it coming more than that "Fred Claus" movie sucking. And I don't as much tip my hat to the ineptitude of the Dolphins, Jets and Bills so much as I do the awesomeness of The Foxboro Fantastics. They dominate, obliterate and annihilate like no other team we've seen. A division title is very fitting. But not even close to the prize we all have our eye on.

So from this point forward no more "Hooray we're AFC East Champs" talk. It was a foregone conclusion anyway. We've got alot more work to do, and Mission: Arizona continues tonight at home against Philadelphia. I'm not boasting that the Pats will embarrass the Eagles or make further mockery of another professional team. BUT, the Eagles were pretty quick to log on to videogatebitching.com and cry about the Pats not winning SB 39 against them fair and square. And all that whining and doubting and dynasty disbelieving is what launched Belichick on his General Sherman-esque campaign to burn the rest of the NFL to the ground. So...

Homefield throughout the playoffs is next. Followed by the AFC title. And then that shiny Lombardi fellow, #4, back where he belongs. A co-MVP for TFB and Totally Mossome would be nice, but now is no time to get greedy.

And if you're in the mood for some football silly from another city, check out these videos from Pittsburgh, where I'm doing the Monday Night Mania thing for ESPN.com. As always they help pass the time, give you something to do during the half or look like harmless fun when you're trying to hide internet porn from your wife.

Cheers and AFC East Champion beers,

Fitzy

PS - As big a Hoff fan as I am? Then this should get you psyched (cue kickass music).

Overeating Ahoy!

I wonder if the rest of the country enjoys Thanksgiving the way we do in Mass? Awesome autumn weather...high school football everywhere...the smell of the overcrowded underbelly of the Mayflower still fresh in the air...I love it. Favorite day of the year. And I hope you, like I, will eat well, drink up, tune the family out and the football in because everyone's greatest holiday is here (could be the 2nd greatest if, uh, WHEN the Pats reach the Super Bowl.) I am on my way to a double deep-fried turkey spectacular, where I expect to add 1 to 2% more Fitzy to the equation (I go with belt pre-loosened in anticipation of spectacular consumption...what's your secret?) Very excited to gorge myself on just about everything I love in this life...if the Pats were playing today it would almost be an "Awesome Overload". So we'll wait for Sunday night and the 23 point spread - seriously, why not just make the spread "Why Bother?" or "More than you'll score in the game anyway". I wouldn't fear A.J. Feeley either, but that's beyond insulting. Truth be told, with the way Philly mouthed off when SpyGate broke, it's gonna be messier in Foxboro Sunday than by your mom's leftovers table tonight. Sorry Eagles, you reap what your bitter bigmouth sows!

I'll be in Pittsburgh this weekend doing stuff around Dolphins @ Steelers for MNF. That game should be...60 minutes long! Oh boy...

Forgot to post this week's "Gate Crashers" video from Denver. It's a little late but still semi-apropos for today's feastivities.

More soon, come back for seconds and GFY!

Happy Thanksgiving,

Miles Standish Fitzgerald

Mossome. That's what watching TFB throw the ball to Randy Moss is; MOSSOME (Townie Shout-Out to Fitzy pal K-O-M for coining that gem). It's the only word that aptly describes seeing Brady pick apart defenses that KNOW where he's going to throw the ball, only to watch the Moss-man haul in everything Mr. Bundchen throws his way. And the touchdowns...each one better than the last, each a sight to behold, each well worth the price of admission or what you paid for your last beer. And NO, I do not get tired of watching them play Catch. Don't care what the score is. Don't care what quarter it is. Don't care that my fantasy team had a lead going into Sunday night, only to watch the Brady-to-Moss Express light my team up, kinda like the Pats did to the Bills. I got creamed on the way to my favorite fantasy loss ever.

So to close, the Pats are pretty good and I kinda like watching them and stuff.

Now if you'll excuse me I need to go take a cold shower because I'm still so fired up after last night's Orchard Park fireworks show.

Personally, can't wait for the 9 pounds I'll gain over Thanksgiving, and the pain in my neck that will develop as I fall asleep awkwardly on the sofa during the Jets/Cowboys game (no way the NFL coulda seen what a steamhouse stankpile of agame that would be). I'm on the road until early next week, at which point the newest and so long overdue-est it's not funny WPW will get its ass onto a computer screen near you. I've got some madness I've been working on for weeks - it's been so long I feel like a player who was rested after the bye week and now has another week off and is frothing at the mouth, freaking out to get in the game. I'm the now-healthy Troy Brown of my own webcast world. Bizarre, a bit of a stretch but kinda true (and when are we gonna see some original recipe TFB, By the way?)

Till then good eatings, good travels and good GFYings to you all. If you wanna waste 7 minutes of your boss's time here are a coupla videos from Denver this week (counting down days till we cover Pats @ Ravens...will be so MOSSOME!)

Cheers and Holiday Beers,

Fitzy

Cream Corn Sabathia OVER Hoss Beckett for AL Cy Young 2007? C'mon! This is nonsense. Sure, it's a nice award for a guy who had a great regular season (and ate as much ass in the playoffs as he does P'zones on a Sunday), and I'm sure all the bandwagon Anti-Boston fans out there see this as a victory against the 21st century's sports Rome. But come on, really? Yes I know they don't factor in the postseason and the votes are cast at season's end. And Sabathia had great number, some better than Beckett. But what a "Hey, nice season, Cleveland. Here's a bone for you since the Sox took it all" award. The make-good foul in basketball after the ref crews one up. Russell Crow winning for "Gladiator" and Denzel for "Training Day". Nonsense!

And then there was Beckett's postseason...oh well, guess I'll have to take solace in our WORLD EFFING CHAMPIONSHIP AND DUSTIN PEDROIA'S ROOKIE OF THE YEAR AWARD!

And to think lil' Dusty did it with a busted bone in his hand the last 2 months. Well-deserved, well-played, well how about that!

Dear AL and NL,

Watch out for the Red Sox in 2008, because they will be better than they were in 2007. You know, the year we won the World Series.

I'm not shitting you.

Cheers,

Fitzy

PS - If you're looking for some video nonsense to cap the day off from my recent trip to Seattle, here's a little something I put together around my boiled-over anger for Mr. Overrated himself, Shaun Alexnder. Enjoy, GFY, and 2nd half Pats Preview Webcast coming soon.

I am seriously sleepy in Seattle, mostly because there's no Pats game this week. It's nice to take a week off to savor last week's HUGE win, but that doesn't mean a Sunday without Pats, in the fall, is a good Sunday. Especially when you're 3,000 miles from home. Nice city, good food, great coffee, but all work and no Pats makes Fitzy a dull boy.

So, in the wait until next Sunday night's flex schedule primetime action vs. the Bills (bring all the fans from Canada you want, Buffalo; it won't help a lick), here are a couple notes/thoughts/things from the end of my fingers that should be reaching for a beer...

**If you're jonesing for something to read or talking about regarding your WORLD CHAMPION Boston Red Sox then you definitely have to check out this Globe article about what Sabremetrics superguru Bill James and his corps of statistician brainiacs have to say about the 2008 team. ELLSBURY AHOY!

**Below is a little preview I whipped up for Monday night's game (you know, the game we're all SO PSYCHED for and wouldn't dare miss). Distractionary video nonsense for the mass(es).

**And be sure to watch my day in Indy from Week 9, that game where the noise-pumped Colts ate it late against our boys (it's in the entry just below this). So much fun.

More soon, GFY and all that Townie jazz. If you need me I'll be alternating microbrews and coffees, my Tom Brady Mancrush growing by the day.

Cheers,

Fitzy

PS - Special Holiday Season GFYs available! Email me @ with a good GFY request and Fitzy Claus just may grant it.

Hey Indy, Here I Come…

People say "Be careful what you wish for." And several Indy fans wrote saying, "We wish you'd come out to Indy and hang out or go to a game..." (or words to that effect). Well, I'm on my way to do both. And even though I-70 West seems longer and more boring than "Godfather Part 3", I'll get there. And I'm bringing a coupla friends with me. Mossman, Donte Deepthreat, White Wes Welker...can't wait for you to meet them, Indy! You'll love 'em. Sometimes you hardly realize they're there since they blow right by ya'! But you'll remember them.

I'm so psyched for today I can barely contain myself. Seriously. It's gonna get crazy. And by "it" I mean "Me". More after the game. Until Super Bowl 41.5 kicks off, here are my NFL Picks for the week. ust trying to help pass the time til the ref blows the Kickoff Whistle and Football Christmas is under way.

I can't wait to open my present! I hpe Tom got me 5 touchdowns passes again. Talk about a gift that keeps on giving...and giving...and knitting...and knitting!

The Wicked Pissah World Series Champions Webcast

Maybe it took a few days, but hopefully it, like the entire Sox season, was worth it.

BTW - Here's my "annoy everyone except Patriots fans" appearance on NPR's "Talk of the Nation" the other day. Notice my slight bias towards the Pats in Sunday's game.

Oh...and if you're in Indy this Sunday, and wanna do some serious TFB rooting and Seyton Manning screaming then gimme a shout. I'll be there. This battle is SO on.

A Rolling Rally of Fitzy Stuff

Whaddup, folks? Fitzy here, still singing from the Sox World Series win, still stinging from being in Denver and NOT being able to get into the game, AND then not being able to fly back to Boston in time for the Victory Parade (even with how slow the duck boats roll I missed it - oh, the pitfalls of travel-based sports comedy employment!) ANYWAY...lots going on, little taste of what's new, nonsensical and brewing at The GFY Lab...

**Indeed I'm waist-deep and working away on a Wicked Pissah World Series Champs Webcast. Hoping to have it up tomorrow. If I was a cybernetic Fitzybot I would have written, shot and edited the thing outside The Pour House in Denver (nice joint for Sox fans, GFY-I), but better late than never. So check back soon. And often. Then again.

**Fitzy on NPR ALERT! In a sign that the apocalypse is approaching, one of the classiest news and broadcast organizations going, NPR (npr.org) is having yours truly on as a guest, today, from 3:45 to 4:00pm, on "Talk of the Nation", talking Pats vs. Colts (what, did you think I was gonna be a guest discussing Kurds vs. Turks?). Yup, the game is that big. And yup, quality public-funded radio will never be the same.

**RIP Robert Goulet

**Looking to kill a little time and watch a coupla videos to help you shake off the last of your Sox Series hangover/get through the rest of the day? Here are a few vids from this past weekend in Denver (what I had to do in the costume shop alone should have gotten me seats in Theo's box for Game 4!).

Cheers, GFY, and a WPWSCW coming soon!
